MAISA’s mission is to serve regional education agencies.

To fulfill its mission, MAISA…

Number of Members (constituency and their roles):
The Michigan Association of Intermediate
School Administrators is comprised of
Superintendents and administrators representing
the 57 ISDs in the State of Michigan. ISD
Superintendents and administrators provide and
coordinate essential services to their constituent
school districts to facilitate teaching and
learning. Upon request and/or agreement, ISDs
may act as operating districts, contract with local
districts, or facilitate the formation of consortia of
local districts to provide career-technical
education, special education, or academic
programs.

Continuing Goals

Consolidation of Services

  • Provide leadership at the regional and state level in the continuing effort to promote and develop appropriate collaborative activities that create efficiencies and expand services to constituent districts.

ISD/RESA Voluntary Accreditation

  • Continue to implement and assess the pilot ISD/NCA District Accreditation process.

Michigan Merit Curriculum Implementation

  • Provide leadership in addressing policy and legislative issues that impact the new high school curriculum requirements and assist in its successful implementation through the work of its standing committees.

MDE/ISD/MAISA Connections

  • Provide leadership and actively partner in the continued implementation of the MDE/ISD/MAISA Action Plan agreement to build greater capacity for organizational service.

Leadership Development

  • In cooperation with the MASA Membership Services Committee, support first time ISD/RESA Superintendents through men torship/professional development programs. In addition, MAISA will provide support for the leadership development of first line ISD/RESA Assistants.

MAISA Organizational Awareness

  • Clarify and communicate with the MAISA membership the organizational structure, including roles and responsibilities of regional representative and committee chairs.

Adequate and Stable Funding

  • Advocate for and use its committee structure to influence Michigan policy makers to provide consistent and equitable funding for Michigan ISD/RESAs.

MAISA Executive Board and Council
