MAISA has been awarded a Title I Accountability Grant that is intended, in part, to deliver data-driven decision making (DDDM) activities at events for teams from high-priority schools. These events are based on the materials, protocols and online data tools developed through the Data for Student Success (D4SS) project whose work, current and past, is supported by the Michigan Department of Education through a Title II Part D grant. The activities will be delivered by that same team, albeit to high priority school teams rather than ISD teams, who are the focus of the Title II grant.

 

 

 

 

 

What it is:

             ·A complement to current improvement efforts underway at High Priority (HP) schools

   ·An expansion of the current Statewide System of Support (SSOS), to improve student achievement in Phase 1 and Phase 2 Title I HP schools

   ·Data-driven decision making services provided by Data for Student Success (D4SS) to complement improvement activities at HP schools

             ·Support for selecting evidence-based improvement interventions

             ·Building-based data coaching support facilitated by regional coordinators

             ·Customized professional development

             ·Expanded support for Phase 1 and Phase 2 schools in collaborative manner with ISDs

What it isn't:

   ·Duplication of current efforts by ISDs and schools

             ·Replacement of current components of SSOS

             ·Replacement of Title II Part D activities previously provided to ISDs by D4SS

Who it's for:

   ·Title I HP schools that are in Phase 1 or Phase 2 for reasons of Math or English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency

             ·School teams of five (5) composed of the following individuals (suggested):

oPrincipal

oTeacher leaders (2-3)

oCentral office representative

oISD/RESA representative

oProcess mentor

What it does:

   ·Provides school team access to a State-supported data tool and resources that validate or indicate the need to refine or develop school improvement plans driven by data

             ·Trains school team members to use and analyze their ELA and math achievement data

             ·Identifies organizational issues that are barriers to achievement and improvement

             ·Provides more robust understanding of problem areas

             ·Enables school team to review and refine school improvement plan (SIP)

             ·Leads school teams to specific evidence-based interventions

             ·Supports implementation through subsequent data coaching
