Initiatives Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD) works with Washtenaw County’s 10 school districts, providing services to more than 40,000 K-12 students, more than 1,000 students served by adult education, about 3,000 teachers and 1,600 support staff in more than 75 public school buildings. In addition, WISD operates High Point School, a facility for students who have severe disabilities, staffs special education classrooms in 14 other leased locations; provides support to students who have disabilities but are included in regular education classes at their local school buildings; and provides some service to 25 non-public schools. WISD offers teacher education programs; training for other school staff and parents in the latest educational technologies, techniques and methods; consultant support; research assistance; and a resource library of journals, books, curriculum materials, films and videotapes. Some of this support is delivered through the REMC 16, which is jointly operated by WISD and Livingston Educational Service Agency. Public school districts in service area: |
