Oakland Schools serves the 28 school districts and 15 public school academies of Oakland County that serve 201,703 students. Nonpublic schools in the county serve an additional 27,058 students. Oakland Schools works with these districts, nonpublic schools and public school academies to help each one preserve its unique identity, respect its special needs, and deliver quality programs to every student in Oakland County.

To do this, the intermediate school district works closely with educational personnel at every level. We work with referent groups whose members may be superintendents or maintenance workers, bus drivers or teachers. We give every group our full attention, letting their needs dictate many of our services. At other times, we serve in a leadership role, sharing the most current and best thinking on many educational issues with local school personnel through consultation, professional development workshops and classes.

Oakland Schools also operates four Technical/Vocational Campuses and a program for students with Autism. Our Speech/Hearing and Psychology Clinics serve all students referred by local districts.
