Superintendent - Finance Kent Intermediate School District is the largest intermediate school district in Western Michigan, serving 20 local districts in Kent and Barry Counties with an enrollment of 97,000 public and 20,000 non-public K-12 students. Kent ISD is responsible for the operation of the Kent Career/Technical Center which serves 2,500 students including adults on a daily basis. Kent ISD also operates the Howard Christensen Nature Center which serves approximately 14,000 students a year. The special education department, in cooperation with four regional offices and the 20 local districts, provides programs and services to over 12,000 handicapped students. In addition, General Education Services provides support and training to more than 10,000 area teachers and administrators. REMC 8, located at the Educational Service Center, provides Kent, Ionia, and Montcalm Counties with a variety of media services. With an annual budget of $65,000,000, Kent ISD employs 460 full-time staff members. Public school
